Carrie Fisher : Pop Singer Carrie Fisher’s father dies


Latest News Update About Carrie Fisher: Eddie Fisher, pop singer and father of Carrie Fisher, has died at age 82 after suffering complications from hip surgery.
The AP reports that Fisher passed away on Wednesday at his Berkeley-area home.
The singer’s family praised the ‘Thinking Of You’ musician in an official statement.
“Late last evening the world lost a true America icon… One of the greatest voices of the century passed away. He was an extraordinary talent and a true mensch,” it read.
In the early 1950s, Fisher scored 32 hit songs and sold millions of records, performing popular standards like ‘Any Time’, ‘Count Your Blessings’, and ‘Lady of Spain’.
Fisher received acclaim for his acting performances in films such as Bundles of Joy and Butterfield 8.
He also gained an increased level of fame for marrying actress Debbie Reynolds in 1955. They divorced in 1959.
Their marriage yielded two children, including Star Wars star Carrie.
Fisher was also married to his Butterfield 8 co-star Elizabeth Taylor for five years, from 1959 to 1964.
In all, the singer was married five times, most recently to Betty Lin.Read More
