Latest News Update About Lady Gaga Meat Dress: Lady Gaga looked almost conservative when she accepted the “Video of the Year” award for “Bad Romance” at the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night. But when she remarked “I never thought I’d be asking Cher to hold my meat purse,” we realized what her get-up (dress, hat, shoes, and purse) was actually made of. Earlier this month, Gaga wore a meat bikini for the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan. @GagaDaily reports the dress was made by Franc Fernandez.
There were no unscripted interruptions during Sunday’s curiously sedate MTV Video Music Awards. But Taylor Swift and Kanye West were again responsible for the show’s buzziest moments.
Swift performed new song Wasn’t It Easy, a dramatic (and, yes, off-key) ode to West. Last year, he jumped onstage and grabbed the microphone during her acceptance speech, which resulted in an intense backlash.
Grainy, black-and-white footage of the dustup preceded Swift’s appearance.
“Who you are is not what you did,” a barefoot Swift warbled. “You’re still an innocent.”
The song, from Swift’s upcoming Speak Now album, might have had more impact if it was angrier.
West himself closed the show with Runaway, a thunderous homage to “jerks” and “scumbags.” It was an effective, if immature, celebration of (likely his own) bad behavior.
Lady Gaga, nominated for a record-breaking 13 awards, nabbed video of the year for Bad Romance. She accepted the award in a (hopefully fake) meat dress from a stunningly in-shape Cher, recreating her If I Could Turn Back Time look.
Gaga announced the name of her upcoming album, Born This Way, and sang a snippet of the title track. She also took home trophies for best female, collaboration, pop and dance video — and thanked her “little monsters” and gay fans.
Host Chelsea Handler started strong with a skit featuring jailbird Lindsay Lohan and a Gaga spoof. But the scripted jokes quickly became unfunny and obvious. There were also adequate, if uneventful, performances from B.o.B and Hayley Williams, Linkin Park and Usher, who seems to have been doing the same thing for the past 10 years.
