Muttahida Qaumi Movement(MQM) Leader Imran Farooq Murdered In London


Pakistan News Update: Senior leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), and the organisation’s first secretary general, Dr Imran Farooq was assassinated in a knife attack in London.
The Pakistan High Commission in London confirmed that the Imran Farooq killed by the man when he was returning back to his home from the nearby park.

An emergency sitting of the MQM Rabita Committee had been called late in the night simultaneously in London in Karachi, following which senior leaders of the MQM, including Farooq Sattar, visited Imran Farooq’s residence in Karachi to express solidarity and comfort his family. MQM has announced a 10-day mourning following the death.

Meetings in different cities to mark the 57th birthday of the party’s founding leader, Altaf Hussain, were also cancelled following the news of the murder.Imran Farooq, a senior member of MQM, was found with head injuries and stab wounds in Mill Hill area of north London on Thursday, British police said.
A message on the party website says: “MQM convenor Dr Imran Farooq murdered in London”. “MQM will mourn the sad demise for 10 consecutive days.”
Police said they were called to reports of a serious assault in the Edgware district of the British capital at 17:30hrs (1630 GMT).
“Officers found an Asian man, aged 50, with stab wounds and head injuries. Paramedics treated the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 18:30hrs (1737 GMT),” said a spokesman for London Metropolitan Police.
Next of kin have been informed and no arrests have been made, said the British police spokesman.
