Latest News Update About Ngee Ann Polytechnic: SINGAPORE: Researchers from the Polytechnic School in the Ngee Ann Health comm SATA Engineering and invented a faster way to screen for tuberculosis (TB).
Screening for tuberculosis contains several time-consuming procedures, including bacteriological culture tests.
But now it takes about five minutes, how scientists analyze the structure of the lungs in X-ray uses a software program developed by them.
Researchers say they achieved 90 percent success rate in accurately detecting TB patients, since research began in November.
This new computer-aided tool also helps the efficiency of radiologists.
Collin Tan, diagnostic imaging with SATA comm health manager, said. “Currently we do about 16,000 X-ray for one month and we have only two radiologists reporting chest radiographs using this tool, we hope it will help radiologists filter suspicion of tuberculosis and improving their productivity.” Read More.
