Moe Maraachli and Sana Nader have been struggle with doctors at the London Health Sciences Centre where Joseph has been a patient since last fall. The Maraachli family wants a tracheotomy tube inserted into the baby and the mouthful of air apparatus detached. They know their child will not survive. They only want him to die at home with his family.
Thirteen-month-old baby Joseph has become an issue of dispute. His parent’s refuse to allow doctors at London to remove the child’s mouthful of air tube and the doctor’s object to custody the child on life support. Because no one else in the family will allow the procedure, the law has the capacity of stepping in and removing the tube in spite of the family’s wishes.
The London Health Sciences Centre has contacted the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee, which can make a decision on Joseph’s chance in the absence of his parent’s consent.
