Civilians fled their homes near Abidjan Abobo, a shootout Tuesday night when they were soldiers loyal to the incumbent leader, Laurent Gbagbo, his supporters attacked rival Alassane Ouattara.
There were some sporadic shots in the Abobo neighborhood in the middle, but Abidjan was quiet, with an area where the fighting took place culminating in a military roadblock.
The day before, gunfire and explosions shook Abobo Ouattara where support is high, as African presidents, aimed at resolving a power struggle was visiting two camps, to propose solutions.
Gbagbo is defying international sanctions and pressure on earnings results on November 28 poll, which showed that he lost Ouattara and is supported by the military, which crushed a disagreement in a series of bloody action.
