West Indies 222 All Out v SA

South Africa’s Pakistan-born legspinner Imran Tahir took 4-41 on his spirited entrance as West Indies was bowled out for 222 in 47.3 overs in a Group B match at the World Cup on Thursday.

Tahir ran from side to side the West Indies’ top and middle order, while off spinner Johan Botha finished with 2-48 as the Proteas’ curiously spin-heavy attack shone at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. South Africa selected three specialist spinners for its first game of the tournament.

Botha had Chris Gayle caught at slip off the third ball of the innings, before Darren Bravo counterattacked with 73 in a 111-run partnership with opener Devon Smith.

But Botha and Tahir returned with a explode of five wickets to halt the progress and Dale Steyn gripped the tail with his 3-24.
