Peter king

Peter king:Today House hearing on “The extent of the radicalization of the American Muslim community and the response of the Community” created a storm of criticism from civil rights groups and Democrats, who say that Republican Peter King, RN.Y., to isolate Muslims deliberately.

Democrats and rights groups say he is guilty of “modern McCarthyism” and use religion to divide Americans.
Critics have tried to limit the scope of the hearing to extend to Islam, to look at other radical sects of religious groups and beliefs.
Watch George Stephanopoulos’ interview with the king here.
Despite the protest, it should be noted that the king’s ear is not the first or fifth or even tenth congressional hearings to address the problem of violent Islamic extremism to address.
Independent Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman, who is a defense hawk, led by series of 14 hearing on violent Islamic extremism, “from his perch as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee. So did Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Rep. Jane Harmon, D-California. About six hearings like.

Lieberman ran from September 2006 until February 2011.
Senator Lieberman, I-Ct. Saying that his actions were different because it examined ideology Islamist terrorism, instead of shedding light on the Islamic community, but he heard the king called “important.”
“This problem has become worse, so there’s more aware of. The Chair King also seems responsible for the American Muslim community to deal with the threat of domestic radicalization, while our focus is on the ideology that breeds Islamic terrorism,” said Lieberman in a statement.
“But the chairman of the King rose, the important points. Our government needs a more comprehensive approach to combat and prevent domestic radicalization. I was told that for years,” he said. “Enforcement, intelligence and local police departments are still good work. But it is clear that if we really to prevent the radicalization of Muslim Americans, the people in the Muslim community in America aware of the signs that someone again begins in a radical direction, and then work with others in the community and law enforcement to stop this person from an attack.
