Latst News Update About Swarnalatha: Today, September 12, 2010 South Indian film playback singer Swarnalatha (37 years) has passed away. Swarna Latha died at a private hospital in Chennai today; she was ailing from lung related disease. She is from Palakkad, Kerala. She has been singing since 1989 with many music directors. She has rendered songs in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Urdu, Badaga.
Swarnalatha is a one of the greatest singers in the Indian music industry especially South Indian music industry. She has been singing since 1983 with many music directors. She worked with Telugu music directors like KOTI, MM Sreelekha, and M.M.Keeravani. She became famous with her unique pitch in voice.
She went on to win the National Film Award for Best Female PlaybackSinger for the song in 1995. She has lent her voice to hit songs from films including Thalapathi (1991), Thevar Magan (1992), Karuththamma (1994), Bombay (1995), Indian (1996), and Minsaara Kanavu (1997). She was one of the ‘melodious’ (eg. Maalayil Yaaro Manathodu Pesa from Satthriyan) as well as ‘experimenting’ singer (eg. Mukkala Mukkabala of Kaathalan) of her times. She most recently lent her voice to the soundtrack of the film Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006). One of her all-time song includes Ennulle ennulle from Valli, a beautiful composition by raaja sir.
